Mangalore: Judicial Custody of Hired Killers Extended to Jan 22

Mangalore, Jan 9: The district court has extended the judicial custody of hired killers, Sachin Mukund Nair (23) and Vinod Kumar (22) who were arrested by Pandeshwar police on Thursday, January 3 for 15 more days.

JMFC 2nd court has extended the judicial custody of the accused till Tuesday January 22, when they were produced in court on Monday, January 7 evening.  

The duo accused were known to be gangsters of underworld don Vishwanath Koraga Shetty, hailing from the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada and operating from overseas, who had been assigned the task to slay Shivaram Hebbar, entrepreneur of Yellapura in Uttara Kannada, Sujit Alva and Ananth, residents of the city. The accused were arrested by Pandeshwar police inspector Venkatesh Prasanna and other police personnel on Thursday, January 3. The duo was planning to murder Sujith Alva and Ananth after they arrived in the city. Their plan of slaying entrepreneur Shivaram Hebbar at Yellapura also went haywire.  

The accused were produced before the court on Friday, January 4 and remanded to police custody till Tuesday, January 8. However, before the expiry of police custody, the accused were produced in court on Tuesday following which they were remanded to judicial custody till Tuesday, January 22.
