Banning high currency notes a blow against corruption: Badal

Chandigarh, Nov 9 (IANS): Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes as "a decisive blow against corruption".

"Through the sharp and stunning strike, the Prime Minister has shown that he possesses exemplary courage to take on the external as well as internal enemies of the country alike," an official statement quoting Badal said.

The Chief Minister said the war against corruption and black money had to be fought with the same courage and at the same level as war against an external enemy.
