New Delhi, Nov 9 (PTI): Rahul Gandhi today targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for declaring Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes invalid, wondering as to how bringing in the new Rs 2000 note is going to make black money hoarding a lot harder.

In remarks laced with sarcasam, the Congress Vice President said "well done Mr Modi".
"Real culprits" who have stashed black money are "sitting tight" while lives of farmers, small shopkeepers and houswives "have been thrown in utter chaos," he said in a series of tweets.

"Once again Mr Modi shows hw little he cares abt ordinary ppl of this country-farmers,small shopkeepers,housewives-all thrown into utter chaos".

"While the real culprits sit tight on their black money stashed away abroad or in bullion/ real estate.Well done Mr Modi"

"One Q for the PM: How is replacing 1000 rs notes with 2000 rs notes going to make black money hoarding a lot harder? #Modilogic", he said on the micro-blogging site.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi last night announced that high denomination notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 will no longer be legal tender to fight against black money and corruption.

    Can PM Modi, FM Arun Jetley, Amit Shah, Ex- Reliance Advisor - RBI Governor, two people each from RBI Department and Finance Department be honest and let the people know how much 500 & 1000 currency they had in their possession at the time of DECLARATION i.e. 8PM 8NOV16. I am sure NIL because they must have already converted to 100.Adanis and Ambanis forget about them - they can manage the show.

    I agree - Priyanka should lead the Congress. Rahul is of no use. Now, de-monetization of 500 N 1000 notes. Besides PM Modi and Arun Jetley, two people in the finance department and two people of RBI new this move 6 months in advance. This is a very good move but, Adanis, Ambanis and Patel Community and including Amit Shah, I am sure got their currency exchanged well in advance...............!

    In India, less than 5% population are using Electronic money like credit card and less than 5% outlets have the facility in India for accepting electronic money so this new policy of cancelling suddenly Rs.1,000 and Rs. 500 notes in not in the right direction. Ultimately it is the AAM Admi/common man is suffering.

    Salaried people get Salary of 30th and by now they would have made all the payments and settled

    Some people get salary on Saturday and they must have purchased all required items by Tuesday

    The people will daily wages will never get more than Rs.500 so they will not have currency with 500 denomination with them

    So who is suffering ? Please elaborate ………

    With the historical decision of surgical strike on Black Money and related positive effects to the country, all the multiple lakhs of crores black money in India will have a ZERO value from tomorrow for both GoI and Individuals.
    What next ? May be once the country settles with the new currency bill in the next few months.... government should have a short window to exchange the old currencies by charging 90% of the original value as the conversion fee. At least with this our hard earned tax money can be used in some development projects instead of being zero valued.

    Those who have not met or mixed with Rampanna, please know that jokes were made on his name but as a person he used to be very much helpful and generous.
    Myself along with some friends used to enjoy the non-veg food at discount rate and quantity no barrier. Of course drinks were allowed (Country with Coke) and sing song too was the privilege.     Iam keeping my fingers crossed on this one ..must wait and see how many people will deposit money in the bank and pay tax or people will dump the money and continue the way they made black money using the new 2000Rs and 500 Rs note ..you can momentarily stop a corrupt man ..but can never change his habit for easy money ...until you ban all current crop politicians and replace them with educated ones ..but yes its a bold move to stop counterfeit currencies circulating in the market ..black money is still in swiss banks and panama papers ..no action till date on the people who were named in court by Govt nor whose name appeared in panama papers...

    Everyday I get many jokes about Pappu in what'sapp Facebook etc.This is just another addition to it.
    Millions of fake currency of 500 and 1000 have been pumped by Pakistanis which need to be removed and giving Rs 2000 notes becomes easy in exchange as bank has to give just one note for 4 notes of 500 .Black money hoarders and terror funders need to come to bank for exchange isn't it .Do you think it will easy to go to bank and exchange for black moneyed guys????

    Utter mismanagement from the cow government without arranging rupee 500 and rupee 2000 in to circulation.

    BLACK MONEY HOARDERS HAVE NEWS ALREADY FROM P.M., OFFICE AND THEY HAVE ALREADY EXCHANGED THEIR CURRENCY.

    Please read to understand the real logic behind banning of � & � currency notes:

    Another short term poll benefit to BJP & long term economic loss to the nation. This govt completely failed to understand that 90% of the black money involved is in the form of Shares, Gold & Realestate. Only 10% in cash, that to with small middle class businessmen. This move is surely going suppress the small fishes & will protect the real gaints who are only dealing in Dollars & Pounds.
    Why Modi ji have not introduced any actionplan for blackmoney outside India, because that money will now help him to fight upcoming Assembly elections.

    Agreed that it may curb an existing percentage of blackmoney available presently in the market. But can we imagine the amount of Blackmoney which will be generated in next 5-10 years after introducing � rupees currency notes?

    Banks to be shut down tomorrow, ATM's to be shut down for 2 days, we will be able to dispence only 2000 from ATM & exhange only 4000 from banks, is it a joke?
    Modi ji cant even think of the inconvenience that essential services will face in coming days.

    Forget about Black Money but this move will surely encounter all the current debatable issues including #Najeeb, #BanningNDTV, regular ceasefire voilations by Pak, killing democracy, privatising education & communal tentions all over the country till next 2 months. Hats off to his timing.

    The ultimate goal of the government is to reduce cash transactions wherever possible especially larger denominations. So, don't be surprised if Rs. 2000 new note going out of circulation may be 5 years down the road. Because Indian economy is much reliant on cash transactions, you cannot just take out currency notes availability in one go. It has to be gradual. People need to start using more credit/debit cards, online payments, checks or other means for making white money transactions. It takes time to develop this habit. Smart phones makes it easy to make online payments these days and pretty much every Indian now has a smart phone. In developed countries such as US or UK, nearly 80% of the transactions are NOT done through cash payments. So, in India, even if RBI and the government can bring the cash transactions from the current 80% level to say 50% level in about 5-6 years, that would be a significant achievement. Sure, there will be issues in the initial stages, but in the long run, Indian economy will benefit from the white money transactions.

    When in 1978 the then Government of Indira Gandhi demonetised Rs 1000, 5000 and 10000 notes the common man did not possess these currencies. Today every individual is in possession of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes. If a person is without vehicle it is worse to get the money exchanged. The Government d holiday for banks today and Post Offices refused transactions too, ATM closed, leaving the common man to struggle. Even paying electricity bills were not accepted since the consumers went to pay the bill with Rs.500 bill. People do not carry Rs.10,20 & 50 in large quantity. The Centre should have thought of allowing all Government payments without any ban.It was also very ridiculous to see the PM explaining the demonetising scheme which ought to have been done by the Finance Minister or the RBI personnel. Clamouring for publicity on every issue by the PM is surprising. It looked the PM was doing the job of a Newsreader on National TV. The PM should trust his ministers.

From december Ambani will get returns from customers, which is white money!!!. Hogayee na baath!. So how did Ambani knew this is coming!?. Heard current RBI governor was also a financial advisor to Reliance in the past!!!. So many things are getting connected!. Ramdev started Patanjali by investing all his black money and now he is getting profit which is white money!!!. He was having just a 200 crore turnover before Patanjali and now its near 5000 crores!!!. Adani was worth only 600 crore 2 years back but is worth 10000 crore today!!!!. Want more!?.     All the illegal 500 and 1000 rupees hidden till today has lost value which means those money are out of system..

    2000 Rupee notes are limited in numbers which has a tracking capability, so some chors like Raja, reddy, pawar, Sonia cant hide it anymore..

    This will help to curb black money, this will streghten our economy since black with denomination of 500 and 1000 are no more negotiable instrument.
