M’lore: Seminar on Contribution of Periodicals to Literature

Mangalore, Jan 8: A two-day seminar on ‘The Contribution of Periodicals in the Development of Literature’ will be jointly organized by Sahitya Akademi (Academy of Letters) and Raknno Konkani weekly at Bishop’s House hall, Kodialbail here on Saturday January 12 and Sunday January 13.

The seminar will be inaugurated by Santoshkumar Gulvady at 10.30 am. Sandesh Prabhu Dessai will deliver the key note address. Jochim Pinto will compere the programme.

The first session on ‘The Problems and Challenges: As Experienced by Us’ will start at 2 pm for which Dileep Borkar will be the chairperson.

The second session on ‘Periodicals: The Only Patroniser to Poetry, Essays and Topical/Serious Writings’ will be held at 3.45 pm. J B Moraes will be the chairperson.

S M Krishna Rao will deliver a talk on ‘Serialization of Novels in the Periodicals’ on the Sunday January 13 at 10 am during the third session.

The fourth session on ‘Periodicals Nourish Short Stories’ will begin at 11.45 am. Edwin J F D’Souza will be the chairperson.

The valedictory function will be held at 1.15 pm.
