Kejriwal announces Rs one crore for Grewal's family

Bhiwani (Har), Nov 3 (PTI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced a compensation of Rs one crore for the family of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal who had allegedly committed suicide over the issue of 'One Rank, One Pension' (OROP).

Kejriwal made the announcement at Grewal's village Bamla near her where he attended the army veteran's cremation.

Amid high drama, the Chief Minister had been detained by Delhi Police yesterday when he ried to meet the family of Grewal.

"I want the people to take his fight forward. We will fight till our last breath and snatch OROP from the Centre. Our soldiers deserve what is their due," Kejriwal told reporters here.

On allegations that AAP was politicising the issue, Kejriwal said, "Yes, we are doing politics. We are doing politics to grant our soldiers their rights while Modiji is doing politics to take those rights away."

Under the AAP government's compensation policy, the families of martyrs who are residents of Delhi are given Rs one crore.

Kejriwal has been repeatedly urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement the same across the country.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and other political leaders also reached the native village of Grewal, who had committed suicide by consuming poison at a park in New Delhi area on Tuesday evening.

    The issue took a political turn when Modi chose to bring it up in his September 2013 speech. Modi's impassioned statements had the potential of swinging over the influential fauji vote. The UPA government, then in its last months, stuck to its stand that measures had been taken and that this would be the closest possible formulation to an OROP.

    Now after the election veteran soldiers who defended our borders taking the path of suicide.

    How many more soldiers need to sacrifice their lives for rights of pension to support their families?

    As we all by now know that ex-service man Subedar(Retd) Ram Kishan Grewal has committed suicide and without any suicide note media n political parties mainly #Congress And #AAP are saying that he committed suicide due to #NarendraModi govt not fulfilling #OROP promise.

    But what none of the media or politicians frm #Congress #AAP are saying is that the deceased ex serviceman has been sarpanch of village Bamla in Bhiwani district of Haryana .

    He was awarded by Congress govt in 2005 & 2008 for his efforts in making his village open defection free by building toilets under Nirmal Bharat programme ( scheme now called Swacch Bharat Abhiyan), during investigationsin 2015 it was found that the village d Open defection free in 2008 by Haryana Congress govt, only 15% households actually had built toilets under govt scheme and rest were only on papers.
    As per the then policy payment for all 1882 households were made to village committee headed by Ram Kishan Grewal as sarpanch of village .

    In June 2016 Ram Kishan Grewal was charged for causing loss to exchequer by raising fraudulent bills in name of building toilets in his village and investigations were going in against him.

    This reminds me abt another half news that was reported by media last month about suicide of another govt official B.K.Bansal, DG corporate affairs who along with family committed suicide blaming toucher by CBI after he was arrested red handed while accepting bribe of Rs.5 lac, then too media didn't report that Bansals had d 5 crore income under IDS-2016

    Congress denied OROP for 60 years. Indira Gandhi decreased pensions by 40% in 1973. Rajiv Gandhi refused to implement OROP in 1986. Manmohan Singh also denied OROP in 2008 and suggested other method with low pensions. Congressis should feel ashamed of themselves.
    "Congress" kept OROP pending for Last 4 decades, raised doubt on surgical strikes conducted by Indian Army. Terrorists sympathiser are now doing drama, as their existence in India is at stake. Raul family looted India, even hijacked name "Gandhi" for its existence in our Country.

    With all due respect to departed person, he was a coward and not a martyr. I request media not to give undue publicity to this sad incident. Just because a comedian Rahul gandhi whose family occupation is to keep poor of india poor and one Kejri who spends public funds without accountability , the deceased is not a martyr. Rahul, Sonia and entire congress as well as all UPA parties should clarify what prevented them to implement OROP? it was certainly not a case that bjp then in opposition that derailed it like what congress did till recently for Gst. anyway, people of india are not fools as rahul and Kejri believes them to be. they too will ask "aam admi ko kya mila" ... this was the slogan of congress party for 2004 national election that bjp lost.... time to ask this to Rahul and arvind... please explain what is the benefit for common man from all drama that you are doing.

    Tom Cat, I used to think the same as you, but I have noticed that more than 70% of the AAP MLA'S in Delhi are crooks with criminal backgrounds. The BJP or the Delhi Police are not stupid to arrest innocent people. They may get away with one or two instances but not so many. With today's hyper active media, you will not get away if you keep harassing innocent people, therefore it is proven that most of the AAP MLA's are crooks who are not able to get bails from courts. Also in Punjab and Goa we see people from criminal backgrounds being inducted into AAP. Kejriwal is not a saint, he is a megalomaniac who has grand plans for himself and cares two hoots for the nation. He is just another self seeking politician and all the good people who were instrumental in forming the AAP have seen through his character and have left the party. Today it is just another group of crooks.
