New leadership will be in place soon, says Ratan Tata

Mumbai, Oct 25 (PTI): Interim Chairman of Tata group Ratan Tata on Tuesday said his appointment is for short-term and new leadership will be in place soon.

Ratan Tata said he has assumed role of interim chairman for stability and continuity so that there is no vacuum.

He further said that leaders of group companies should focus on their businesses without being concerned about change in top leadership.

Today's meeting was held after Cyrus Mistry was removed as Chairman of India's largest conglomerate Tata Group and replaced by his predecessor Ratan Tata in the interim.

Further details are awaited.

They have been pioneers for over a century now, reliable, articulate and very genuine, albeit, the path has slightly moved waywardly due to the legal wrangles / opinion sought by Cyrus Mistry from the former solicitor General Mr. Mohan Parasaran which turned out against him to become a road ''full of potholes''. Such things do happen .. and were bound to in a bottle-neck tight situation where ''wild card entry'' type of business decisions made are to be firm. Apparently even Cyrus Mistry must have not ventured that such a decision would back fire as he is relatively new in such an environment and not a master of unforeseen situation. Anyway, these types of risks are always to be carried out in the right stride with a positive attitude - more so in a right-frame-of-mind because one should know that in today's strenous business environment demands especially when businesses globally are facing the music and seat belts are always to be ''buckled and fastened'' up your thinking has to be razor sharp. The mantle has now been passed on to the old horse - Ratna Tata who will slowly balance the delicate situation till a new successor is firmly saddled in the driver's seat. It is a matter of time and I am confident that eventually TATA's will see out this storm.
