M’lore: Konkani Bhasha Mandal Organizes Poetry Recital Programme

Mangalore, Jan 2: Karnataka Konkani Bhasha Mandal has organized Konkani poetry recital programme at Nalanda English Medium School auditorium, to commemorate its 34th foundation day celebration, on Tuesday, January 1.

P Narayan Kamath, executive director of SCDCC Bank, inaugurated this programme. Speaking on this occasion, he said that development of literature is essential for the progress of language. Meanwhile, he recalled the past memories related to the efforts put by many people for the formation of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.

Fr. Eric Crasta, president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Paul Moras, president of All India Konkani Parishat, Kudpi Jagdish Shenoy, K G Mallya and Raghunath Shet were present on the dais.

Deeksha, Shrilatha and Monisha sang the welcome song.  Fr. Eric Crasta welcomed the gathering.  M R Kamath introduced the chief guest. Geetha C Kini proposed vote of thanks. Venkatesh N Baliga compered the programme.

Later Konkani poetry recital programme was held for high school students, amateurs and seniors.


Chandrika Kamath, Jeevan Cornelio, Apoorva Kamath, Gowri Bhat, Lenita Menezes, Madhava Mallya, Amitha Mallya and Sachita Pai recited poems in high school category.

Clement Taccode, Dimple Fernandes, Maroli Sabitha Kamath, Radhika Kini, Jayashree Baliga, Asha Nayak, Basti Vimala Shenoy, Meera Kini and Basti Shobha Shenoy recited poems in amateur category.

Martin R D’Souza Vamanjoor, Indira Jodumutt, Ramesh Rao Mangalore, Charles D’Souza Konchady, Sandhya Shevagoor, Melvyn Rodrigues and Gladys Rego recited poems in seniors’ category.
