Udupi: Devjyoti Roy Appointed Superintendent of Police

Udupi, Jan 1: Governor Rameshwar Thakur has appointed Devjyoti Roy as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Udupi district. Earlier, he was serving as special duty officer at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi.

Meanwhile Labu Ram, in-charge SP of Udupi district has been transferred to Hassan, as SP. Dr P S Harsha, ASP of Puttur has been promoted as senior ASP and retained at the same location.

Prior to the assembly elections in Karnataka, the governor has issued orders to transfer a total of 18 IPS officers in the state. Sources stated that this has been done to prevent any misuse of authority by JD (S) and BJP leaders through these IPS officers during the elections.
