Petrol up Rs 1.34 a litre, diesel by Rs 2.37

New Delhi, Oct 15 (PTI): Petrol price was today hiked by Rs 1.34 a litre, the fifth increase in two months, and diesel by Rs 2.37 a litre on back of spike in global rates.

The hike announced by oil companies is excluding state levies. After including local VAT, petrol will now cost Rs 66.05 a litre in Delhi from midnight tonight as against Rs 64.72 per litre currently. Diesel will cost Rs 55.26 per litre as against Rs 52.61 a litre at present.

The price of petrol was last hiked by 14 paise per litre and that of diesel by 10 paise a litre on October 5, following an increase in commission paid to dealers.

Prior to that petrol price had been hiked on three occasions while diesel price was cut by 8 paise a litre on October 1.

"The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and INR-USD exchange rate warrant increase in selling price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision," Indian Oil Corp (IOC) said in a statement.

The movement of prices in the international oil market and INR-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes, it said.

I can understand the fluctuations in pricing of gas, petrol and diesel. Why do we make so much noise when the price go up?These items are imported, refined and transported so that we fill our vehicles which run 7 to 95 kilometeres based on the type of vehicle that we use.
Whereas the booze that the common man consumes to forget his worries are locally made and it priced at almost three times for the same qty we do not cry foul.Eg.A bottle of beer costs from Rs. 120 to 150 for just 650ML when converted to litre, the actual cost comes to Rs. 200 to 250,How come no one takes up this issue of dispartiy?

Thank you Dear P.M Modiji for acche din.Everyday I am fearful of what next coming.Taxes are high and only for poor or middle class. Inflation very high that our daily food is rationed!I used to send my children for one of the best school,Now I am sending them for medium range.I had invested in land so that I can build a home, now I have to sell it for cheap price as real estate is crashed and no one can afford! To go to hospitals I think I may have to sell my kidneys to raise money it its comes to that. I sold my land to settle the loan and I lost everything. You are behind black money and I think please target Dirty politicians who have deposited multi million crores in banks abroad! you are only targeting middle class Indians. We are doomed and I am unable to cope with this.I do not think our children will have any future.Poor left poor and rich are mighty and powerful! There is no law and order in our country. Where is safety?I think this country my dear country is going in the opposite direction. Seriously I am too much troubled and worried.as per prices for petrol and diesel,I think you will increase so much that it will, become Rs 100 for petrol and diesel by next 12 months. Finally this comment makes no difference to the Govt because they donot care about us!

When Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, crude price price shot up to $147 per barrel but the petrol price in India was just above 70 rupees. When FEKU is the prime minister, when the crude oil price is $51 per dollar, the petrol price in Bangalore is 71 rupees per litre!!!

At Rs 3350 per barrel for crude, considering 86 litres of petrol, 52 litres of diesel and other derivatives, the price of petrol and diesel comes to three times.
Even you take loan and send your child out for education, every time you take foreign exchange, they collect Swatch Bharath and Krishi Kalyan tax.

Jossey, are you really in US!?. It looks everything, including your name is fake!. For your information, Today America is the largest producer of petroleum products in the world and Saudi Arabia is second!. Today's oil price crash world over is because, US has started to extract shale oil (check net what it is!) With new technology and today US also exports oil!. I thought people going to US are intelligent! !!

US $ is the most traded currency in the world and also comparatively, stable currency, Hence, oil being in international market, is traded mostly in that currency. However, some countries, trade oil in Euro, pound, Yuan or Swiss Franc.
