Puttur, Dec 23: The Puttur town municipal council has successfully managed to demolish several illegal structures and buildings within the city limits here on Saturday, December 22.

A few months’ ago, illegal buildings built by the poor and medium class people were demolished by the city administration. This had resulted in the locals  blaming the municipal council rueing that they were not touching the illegal constructions built by the rich class. Hence this time round, the authorities headed by the assistant commissioner and administrator of the municipal council P Vasantkumar have successfully demolished almost all the illegal constructions in the town.

The authorities issued a notice to the illegal building owners on 20th December and almost all the buildings were brought down on Saturday, 22nd December. Sources here state that few of them will be demolished on Sunday, 23rd December. This determined drive of bringing down illegal buildings started from Puttur main road right uptill Darbhe, on Saturday.

However, in view of the notice given earlier some of them had voluntarily demolished their illegal structures on Friday. Meanwhile, the administration has decided to improve the main road here.
