Mangalore: Blasts within Nagarjuna Site - Locals Panicked

Mangalore, Dec 20: The villagers of Yellur and surrounding areas have expressed their apprehension over series of blasts that have been taking place within the Nagarjuna construction site in the last few days. Though the Company has been making use of locally-made explosives (known as thote), the locals have made it clear that these blasts have been having an adverse effect on their houses.

The company has been using these explosive to blast the rock at Kolachur where a 350 feet chimney is being under construction.  Eversince the work started a fortnight ago, the locals had been opposing the work.  But a major blast on Wednesday December 18, took people by surprise with its high intensity.  Some of them even said that it was as good as any bomb blast.

A few houses which are within the construction site have already developed cracks.  People have already appealed the concerned the department to look into the matter and take appropriate action against Nagarjuna in this regard.
