M'lore: Muhurtam of 'Ten Commandments' Held at Kulshekar

Mangalore, Dec 19: Muhurtam of the 'Ten Commandments', a biblical play proposed to be staged at the open grounds of Cordel parish on March 2, 2008 was held at 6.00 p m on 18the December, 2007 at Kulshekar.

Konkani Singer and Lyricist, Wilfy Rebimbus, who presided over the muhurtam ceremony congratulated the Catholic Sabha of Cordel parish on their decision to organize such a mega event at Cordel during the lent of 2008. He was happy that the good old tradition of staging biblical plays during lent in order to enrich the spiritual life of the faithful. He wished the entire team - the director, artistes, composers, and others success in their efforts to stage this play and expressed his fond hope that the play would provide spiritual nourishment to the faithful.

Joel Pereira, who wrote the play explained in detail the circumstances that prompted him to write this play. The inspiration  received from his son to venture into such a massive task, he remembered during the occasion. The play in its present form is the fruit of his extensive researh, he said.


Dolla who will be directing the play along with Claude D'Souza of Bendore said it would be a tough challenge to direct such a play in which more than 200 artistes would be taking part. He sought the cooperation of one and all to make this project a grand success.

Wilfy Rebimbus, released the book and handed it over to the Director, Dolla.

Gregory Mathias, of Mathias Aluminium Industries, released the hand bill of the play and wished the organizers well.


Fr Alwyn Sequeira, who will be composing the songs/hymns for the play released the tickets of the play.

Fr Lawrence D'Souza, the spiritual director and the parish priest of Cordel parish invoked God's blessings on everyone who is a part of the project. Sushil Noronha, the president of the Cordel unit of the Catholic Sabha urged each and every member of the Catholic Sabha to contribute their share towards making this venture a success.
 
Denis D'Silva, the convener of the project welcomed the guests. Alban Pinto, the Secretary of the Catholic Sabha proposed a vote of thanks. Albert Peris compered the programme.
