Mangalore, Dec 17: The Beary community is fortunate enough to have intellectuals, politicians and the eminent personalities who have the capability to bring the community to the fore.  But, unfortunately the community has also representatives in the world of crime, said GA Bava, retired police official, while acknowledging the felicitations at ‘Beary Sowhardha Sangama’ held in the Town Hall here, on Monday December 17.

The programme was organized by the city-based ‘Sania Media’.

'No one is born into the religion of his choice. Everyone should cultivate the attitude of religious tolerance without a choice. It is the utmost duty of everyone to view all religions equally and respect each other,' he added.

Refuting the general notion that Madarassas have turned into hubs of terrorism, he said that Madarassas never instigate one to become a terrorist. On the contrary, Islam teaches patriotism even in the first scripture of the Holy Qur'an. Islam never encourages committing of suicide. If anyone becomes a suicide bomber, then he or she cannot be accepted as a true Muslim.

The Beary community is the golden feather in the crown of the tradition of the diverse culture of the region. There has been one-to-one relationship between the Bunt Community and the Beary community. Education and good health are basics of life,  A Sadananda Shetty, chairman, Sri Devi Education Trust, said in his inaugural address, stressing the fact that, ‘Beary’ community has significantly contributed for the growth of the region in every sphere.

Staging stage-plays is not anti-Islam.  But, depicting anything against the religion directly or indirectly is anti-Muslim. Stage-plays could be an effective medium wherebyocial message can be delivered effectively. India has its own culture which deserves to be depicted in the form of plays said M B Abdul Rahiman, president, Central Beary Sahitya Parishat, in his inaugural address.

Peace prevails in the society, where all the religions contribute their best. People of all faiths should have an attitude of religious tolerance.  Hence, everyone should do his or her best to lay a firm foundation for peace and thus progress towards prosperity, he added.

Haji Abdul Khader Golthamajal, founder of Azaz group, GA Bava, Vaibhavi, film actress, Hajabba Harekala, social worker and Rahim Uchil, editor of ‘Law and Order’, a Kannada tabloid, were felicitated on the occasion.

Rahim Uchil welcomed the gathering and Ismail Moodushedde, editor of ‘Crime v/s Lathi-charge’ compered the programme.
