Mangalore: Woman Drugged in Car, Robbed of Jewellery

Mangalore, Dec 11:  A shocking incident of a woman being robbed of all her jewellery after being drugged while in a car has been reported from the outskirts of the city.  

Anita (38), resident of Maripalla in Bantwal taluk and a LIC agent, was taken by some persons in a red colour Maruti Omni after leading her to believe that they would introduce her to a prospective customer.  But they drugged her on the way and robbed her of 15 sovereign of gold, worth Rs 1.12 lac.  

Vijay Shetty and two of his associates took Anita in their Omni car on the pretext of arranging a group insurance policy covering the quarry workers on Saturday December 8.  They drove her to Soorinje via Bajpe from Bantwal during the night.  She was made to believe that they were to meet an insurance consultant there.  She was offered a glass of juice suspected to be mixed with drugs at Bajpe.  Anita soon lost consciousness and collapsed on the seat.

However, when she woke up early on Sunday December 9 morning, she found herself lying beside the road at Soorinje and all her jewellery was missing.  The police suspect that she was robbed of all her jewellery before she was dumped off Omni in Soorinje.
