Mangalore: Akashwani's Former Engineer P K Pai (81) Passes away

Mangalore, Dec 10: P Keshavarao Pai (81), a resident of Kodialbail here, better known to his colleagues and acquaintances at P K Pai, and who had retired as engineer-in-chief of Akashwani (All India Radio), passed away in a private hospital here on December 8, after a brief illness.

Pai had retired in 1985, having last served as engineer-in-chief at AIR, Ahmedabad, after putting in a long service of 35 years. He was the first station engineer when the Mangalore station of Akashwani was launched on December 11, 1976.

The major stations he served at are Delhi, Madras (now Chennai), Mangalore and Ahmedabad in various positions of the engineering section.

His competence in airwave engineering prompted the government of India to depute him on foreign assignments in France and Italy.

He is survived by wife and two daughters.
