Udupi: Eminent Scholars to Attend Sauharda Sahitya Sammelan

Udupi, Dec 6: As announced earlier in these columns a day-long Sauharda Sahitya Sammelan will be organized by various progressive groups here on Sunday December 9.

This one-day convention is organized in protest against the ‘command of Sangh Parivar’ in the 74th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan which is to be held here from Wednesday December 12 to Saturday December 15. Nearly 10 writers and scholars will discuss on various topics at the Sammelan, stated a press release issued by the reception committee of the Sauharda Sahitya Sammelan here on Wednesday December 5.

Gopal B Shetty, writer, will deliver a talk on communalism whereas K L Ashok, secretary of state unit of Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike, will talk on challenges of communalism and its various manifestations in the state, informed the press release. Pattabhirama Somayaji, scholar will initiate a discussion on ‘Literature and challenges to the freedom of expression’ and Rahmat Tarikere, professor, Hampi Kannada University will speak on ‘Dimensions of Karnataka’s harmonious culture’, the press release added.

In the afternoon session, G Rajashekhar, writer will deliver a talk on ‘Globalization and inequalities’, the release informed.
