Mangalore: A B Shetty Dental Institute Adopts Kotekar Village

Mangalore, Dec 5: Kotekar village near Ullal has been adopted by the A B Shetty memorial institute of Dental Sciences in association with the Kotekar gram panchayat, with a motto of ‘oral and dental care delivery for the masses at their doorstep’.

Ramananda Swamy of Kolya Math inaugurated the adoption programme at the Dakshina Kannada district higher primary school, Madoor in Kotekar on Monday December 3.

Inaugurating the programme he said that social service is the need of the hour. Those who are rich should help the poor, he added.

He further said that the rich people rarely show concern towards those people who are economically backward.

Everyone should work towards the welfare of the people, he urged.

The chief guest on the occasion were UT Khader, MLA, Dr H Jagannath, district health and family welfare officer and Keshava Poojary, president, Kotekar gram panchayat.

The main aim of the institute was to extend health programmes to the rural population of Kotekar village. Hence it adopted this village. As part of the programme, the institute will be regularly conducting door-to-door surveys, said Prof Dr B Rajendra Prasad, principal of the institution.

Dental check-up and dental sanitation will be held for the residents at the village.

In order to cater the needs of the people the institute will also organize free dental check-up, treatment and denture camps, he said.
