Kundapur: Veerappa Moily Inaugurates Devadiga Conference

Kundapur, Dec 4:  The members of Devadiga community of Kundapur taluk congregated in large numbers at Gandhi Maidan, here on Sunday December 2.

M Veerappa Moily, ex- chief minister of the state and chairman of the Central Administrative Reformation Commission inaugurated the Devadiga conference.

Inaugurating the said conference he said that India is known for its unity in diversity. It is the land of many communities living together with a strong tradition of tolerance and deep faith in democratic values.

It is therefore, imperative on the part of every community to uphold the principles of coexistence and to work for the holistic view of the development and progress, he added.

Dr BS Sherigar, vice-chancellor, Kuvempu University, Shimoga delivered the keynote address.

K Prathap Chandra Shetty, member, legislative council, Srinivas Shetty and Gopal Poojary, ex-MLAs were the chief guests present on the dais.



Dharmapal U Devadiga, Mumbai, Dinesh Devadiga, Mangalore, Nagaraj Padukone, Mumbai, Govinda Devadiga, Bangalore, Sridhar Devadiga, Udupi, Mohandas Devadiga, Mumbai, Tunga Devadiga and Shantha S Padukone were present on the occasion.

Suresh D Padukone, honorable president, Devadiga Welfare Association, Mumbai presided over the programme.

Karnataka Rajyotsava award winner neurologist Dr K V Devadiga and international award winner photographer Santhosh Kundeshwar were felicitated on this occasion.

H Raju Devadiga Trasi, president, Kundapur taluk Devadiga Sanga welcomed the gathering. Honna Devadiga gave the introductory speech. Shanker Ankadakatte, secretary read out the memorandum. Rajesh KC compered the programme. Raguram Devadiga Alooru proposed the vote of thanks.

Earlier massive community rally was held where more than ten thousand people took part in the rally.
