Mangalore: Orphanage Olympics 2007 Inaugurated in City

Mangalore, Nov 26: Orphanage Olympics 2007 was organized by Rotary Mangalore Central at Canara Girls High School here on Sunday November 25.

Children from eight orphanages participated in this Olympics. The day was filled with fun for all the children.

Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, DK district Kannada Sahitya Parishath inaugurated the Orphanage Olympics.

Inaugurating the programme, he said that those children who have less opportunities should come forward by developing confidence. Kalkura Prathishtana will provide assistance to celebrate Diwali and other festivals along with these children, he added.

This occasion was made more attractive with the march-past by the children. For the past 10 years Rotary Club Mangalore has been organizing this Orphanage Olympics.

Students of Ishwarananda Sevashrama, Swamy Sridhanandra SevaShrama, Prashanth Nivas, Abhaychrama, Mangala Seva samithi, Zeenath Bhaksha Yatheemkhana and Aloysian Boys Homes took part in the various competitions organized during the course of the day.
