Udupi: 'Protect Girl Child Campaign' Inaugurated

Udupi, Nov 26: "Women are not only being tortured by men but also by women," ZP Chief Executive Officer P Hemalatha has said.

She was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Protect Girl Child campaign’ organised as part of the World Human Rights Fortnight by Samagra Grameena Ashrama, Kaup and Union of Karnataka-Kerala Koraga Associations here on Sunday.

"Koraga girls, as they live in a very closed system are more prone to atrocity. By providing better education to them the problem could be solved to an extend," Hemalatha said.

She urged the Koraga parents to visit the schools to inspect the way teachers treat their children. President of Samagra Grameena Ashrama, Kaup, Meenakshi presided over the programme.

President of the ZP Standing Committee of Social Justice NB Babu, Co-ordinator of Integrated Schedule Tribe Development Programme Urmila, Nandini from Action Aid, Bangalore also participated in the programme.
