Mangalore, Nov 24: This is an era of coalition governments. Be the union government or state governments, the tragedy of India is that many of the coalition governments fail to observe and execute duties and responsibilities assigned to them, said Peraje Srinivas Rao, recipient of Sahakari Ratna Award at a press conference here on Saturday, November 24.
He further said that all political parties should think during the "hung parliament-like situation," to form and run the government. Be at the central or state or both based on the cooperative principals, which comprises of mutual understanding and doing justice to interest of the electorate and the society, he added.
It had not been surprising that all political parties exhibited their clout to snatch away the prestigious and lucrative portfolios like finance ministry. But the times have changed now. Every political party aims at the ministry like urban development, some times this plays the role of catalyst in the fall of coalition governments. Hence the adoption of cooperative principals is the need of the hour, he added.
