Puttur: Massive Protest Staged against Railway Authorities

Puttur, Nov 23: In all, a total of 69 associations headed by the Puttur Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), staged a protest rally against the railway authorities at the railway station here on Thursday November 22, for delaying the introduction of Mangalore-Bangalore passenger train

The protestors stopped the goods train at the railway station for nearly an hour. The police have registered a case against more than 250 agitators for disrupting train services. Railway traffic officer Shridharan paid a visit to the spot and pacified the agitators by assuring them that the said passenger train service will be introduced in the coming month of December.

Puttur KCCI president Lokesh Hegde, secretary M A Khader, KCCI president Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty, Puttur APMC president Banari Gopalkrishna Bhat, Ashraf Kallega of JD (S), Puttur block Congress president Kavu Hemanath Shetty, B Purandar Bhat, president of Puttur Karnataka Association, Shriram Sene state convener Arunkumar Puttila, Vishweshwar Bhat of BJP, Meera Saheb of Congress, Gopalkrishna Herale of BJP, Edapathya Chandra, president of Bharatiya Bhavaikya Foundation and many others participated in the protest.
