Czech Republic's Petr Cech announces international retirement

Prague, Jul 9 (IANS): Czech international Petr Cech announced that he will retire as goalkeeper of the national football team after becoming his country's most capped player with 124 appearances.

"We lived some amazing moments together - Wishing the team all the best for the future #CZE," the Arsenal goalkeeper said in a tweet with a photo of the Czech team on Friday.

The player explained on the website of the Czech Federation reasons for his departure, saying that he considers himself a perfectionist and does not do things halfway, so he believes his time at the national team has ended, reports Efe.

Cech says goodbye to the national team after a disappointing performance in European championship, in which the team got only one point and did not pass the group stage.
