Updated Porsche 911 Launched in India at Starting Price Rs. 1.42 crore


New Delhi, Jun 30: Porsche, on Wednesday, launched the updated version of its Porsche 911 sports car in India. The fleet includes the Carrera, Carrera S, Turbo, Turbo S and the Cabriolet models. The starting price of these cars will be Rs. 1.42 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) ranging up to Rs. 2.66 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Foregoing the 3.4-liter and 3.8-liter flat-six engines to keep with low emissions and higher fuel economy, the Carrera model sports the 3.0-liter, 2981 cc, twin-turbocharged engine that powers up to 370 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Similarly, the Carrera S has a slightly tuned up 420 hp and 500 Nm developing engine, while the Turbo trim boasts of a 3.8-liter, 3800 cc, to deliver a better power of 540 hp and 660 Nm. Tuning up still, the engine on the Turbo S delivers 580 hp and 700 Nm. 0-100 kmph is estimated at 2.9 seconds and the top speed is 318 kmph.

The cosmetic facelift, besides mechanical updates, include the revised front bumpers and headlamps, optional LED headlamp, three-dimensional tail-lamps, etc. The engine covers and the front styling look the same, typical of Porsches. The infotainment system is a 7-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Smartphone connectivity through Wi-Fi and handwriting recognition.

The import to India will be via the CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit) mode from Zuffenhausen, Germany and will be sold through Porsche’s Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Kochi, Gurgaon and Ahamedabad dealerships. The rivals of the updated Porsche 911 will be BMW M4 and Jaguar F-Type.

New showrooms of the Porsche at Chennai and Hyderabad are also on the cards, in keeping with Porsche’s view to expand its dealership network to more metros across India...
