PM disapproves of Subramanian Swamy's remarks

New Delhi, Jun 27 (PTI) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today disapproved of party MP Subramanian Swamy's attacks on RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and some top finance ministry officials saying they are "inappropriate". Calling Rajan "no less patriotic", he virtually ticked off Swamy saying "if anybody considers himself above the system then it is wrong".

The Prime Minister's comments assume significance in the context of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the BJP distancing themselves from Swamy's recent attacks on Rajan, CEA Arvind Subramananian and Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das.

Swamy also had made some carping comments about Jaitley without taking his name. "Whether it is in my party or not, still I think such things are inappropriate.

This fondness for publicity is never going to do any good to the nation. People should conduct themselves with utmost responsibility. If anybody considers himself above the system, it is wrong," the Prime Minister told Times Now.

Without taking the name of Swamy, Modi was asked about the comments of "your Rajya Sabha MP" in the context of Raghuram Rajan and queried whether it was appropriate.

Even after that there have been criticisms made against very senior government officials, the questioner said recalling Modi's recent counsel to party leaders in Allahabad to maintain balance and restraint in their speech and conduct. "My message is very clear. I have no confusion about it," Modi said when he was asked whether his message on the issue is clear.

Modi then went on to praise Rajan, who has said no to a second term in RBI, saying his patriotism was no less and was sure that he would continue to serve India irrespective of whether he was in some position or not.

"My experience with him has been good and I appreciate the work that he has done. He is no less patriotic. He loves India. Wherever he will work, he will work for India and he is patriotic," he said in an apparent riposte to Swamy's attack that Rajan not mentally fully Indian.

Referring to apprehensions whether Rajan would be allowed to complete his term, the prime minister said though he was appointed by the previous UPA government, Rajan would be completing his term.

Modi's comments came only after Swamy went after Jaitley. Until then Modi did not say a word on Swamy's tirade against Rajan.
He had also kept his silence on various important developments earlier where his party people were involved.
If swamy had not involved Jaitley, Modi would have kept "MOUN" even now. It was a blunder Swamy made out of planned attention diverting tactics for the failures of Modi\BJP\RSS Government.
Swamy will continue his tirades in future too as he has been given that task to dig for the sake of digging to take away attention on Modi\BJP's failures in every front....

As MMS has acknowledged that Modi is a better sales man than himself, I too agree to the same!. Modiji always waits for the results and only then opens his mouth!. In case of Subbu Swamy also he waited for so many weeks!. Now when he is sure that Swamy will do more damage than be a help to him, he has cleverly criticized Swamy without naming him!. Bakhts, please learn from Modiji before writing comments/replies at lightning speed!!!

After the damage is done, now PM Modi realizes that he should disapprove Swami.
So called bold Swami, Is he have to say anything on PM's statement? He is terribly afraid! So acting loyal!
All Swami's utterances are out of compulsions! He must be acting against his own conscious!

This is typical double speak of our Prime Minister knowing fully well that Swamy is acting at the behest of the RSS/BJP and Modi himself considering all the slander against the Gandhi family. May be now Jetley who has worked at close quarters with Modi for so many years could become a thorn for Modi in the future.

Shettyji, You said the whole truth but Mr. Modi won't tell that truth. Dr. Rajan was appointed by the Congress Government, firing Dr. Rajan when Mr. Modi took the control might have created stains on him and so, waited for the expiry of the term. But acting like a good Samaritan now. I doubt now, whether the trashing of Subramanium upon Dr. Rajan was a precalculated political strategy?

As I am repeating for a very long time, India and the rest of the world will realize Mr. Modi's autocratic and double acting nature. Else, he is afraid of his party leaders to speak loud.

Mr. Modi, this double acting is not too hard for the rest of the world to comprehend.

When Subramanium Swamy was throwing mud at Dr. Rajan, you never took a firm stand to tell him to shut up, but kept quite.
Personal attacks from the same party is not the exercise of democratic principles but the utilization of personal vendetta.

When the minorities are being attacked by the street goons, by the comrades of your party and sister parties, you keep very silent.

Well, now you are praising Rajan and telling that he has declined your offer to continue for the second time. What a real joke indeed!
