8 CRPF personnel, two terrorists killed in J&K face-off

Srinagar, Jun 25 (PTI ) : In the deadliest attack on security forces in three years, eight CRPF personnel were killed and 21 others critically wounded when terrorists rained bullets on a bus carrying them in South Kashmir's Pulwama district today.

The suspected LeT terrorists sprayed a bus carrying the personnel of 161 battalion of CRPF with bullets at Frestbal, 14 KMs from here, officials said.

The CRPF's Road Opening Party (ROP) engaged the terrorists and killed two of them. According come accounts, two more militants were involved in the attack but there was no official confirmation.

The area has been sealed and message flashed about the possibility of two terrorists having fled the spot in a car towards Srinagar.

The injured were rushed to the hospital where doctors declared five of them having been brought dead, while the condition of four of the 21 personnel was stated to be critical.

After the encounter was over, bodies of three more CRPF personnel were found on the back seats of the bus raising the death toll to eight.

The terrorists appeared to have carefully chosen the spot for the ambush as every vehicle has to slow down there because of a sharp curve on the road. Security agencies suspect a reconnaisance might have preceded the assault.

This is the third terror strike in three weeks targeting security personnel and the deadliest after the June 24, 2013 attack on Army personnel at Hyderpora on the outskirts of Srinagar in which nine armymen were gunned down.

Inspector General of CRPF Nalin Prabhat rushed to the spot and was leading the combing operations. "We have eliminated two terrorists who are believed to be from Lashkar-e-Taiba," he said.

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police K Rajendra, who visited the spot, said the two terrorists had been neutralized but "unfortunately we have suffered some causalities too".

Asked whether the slain terrorists were from across the border, Rajendra said, "In all probability they seem to be from Pakistan."

Director General of CRPF Durga Prasad will visit the scene of encounter tomorrow.
In Delhi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep anguish over the killing of the CRPF personnel.

"My heart goes out to the families of the CRPF men who lost their lives in Pampore. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured," he said in a tweet.

This is the second attack on a bus carrying security personnel within three weeks. On June 3, terrorists had fired at a bus carrying BSF personnel in Bijbehara, killing two of them. On June four, terrorists had gunned down three policemen at general bus stand.

How long we can lose our brave soldiers and hang our head in shame? All these encounters at the border with terrorists and naxalites keep Indians blood boiling. The world must be laughing at us the way we handling J & k.. Without the help of separatist group these terrorists can not operate frequently inside our country. So, wipe out these separatist groups by Tadipaar. We use our soldiers like sand bags who sacrifice their life for the country.Something wrong with our logistics and the way transporting CRPF personnel.
Why can't we learn from China the way they handled occupation of Tibet so peacefully and the world kept watching silently.

Still PM is enjoying with his useless foreign tours. I don't understand when his 56" chest going to start the work.

An army personnel is bound by so many rules, he can not fire a bullet even towards a seemingly terrorist and he has to prove it.. But for a dirty terrorist the job is so easy, just blindly fire bullet cause max casualty and ensure bloo*dy heaven..

And we have a bunch of third grade anti national brigade who line up and sympathies in case a terrorist gets killed and call it fake encoutner. the same anti national slaves will make mockery of the brave army when the time suits. They do no good to the country in their lifetime but use all their brain to make fun of our army. Shameless souls.

56in is touring world not for sight seeing..he is too old to do that. He is trying to bring prosperity to his coutnrymen where a large set of people are filled with jealousy and sadism. His struggle to get NSG failed miserably due to china, but some jokers in india are dancing and celebrating as if it is MOdi's loss and not our very own country's loss. As log as any country is filled with people having antinational thoghts who want to see the defeat of the country at every minute, the progress cannot be seen. But what is sad is the these jokers have no sympathy for our solders.

Shame on you Mr.Your talking ill of our soldiers. These terrorists targeted from behind & they have no guts to attack from front.Anti national supporting these terrorists to attack our army. We can eliminate outside enemies easily than insiders. In J& k this is only happens. First our army should eliminate inside anti national enemies.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a difference between CPRF (Central Reserve Police Force) and army. And what's this your dialogue about attacking from behind or front? It sounds like battles of Mahabharath and Ramayan where the heroes gave equal chance to the villains. In today's world, ends justify the means my friend.

your last sentence is what caught my attention. If ends justify the means, then we could have a far better India. LOL

An army just cannot attack a suspected terrorist, but has to wait for the first bullet, sad. A terrosit on the other hand can fire bullet at will. If army kills a suspected terosit, then the terrosit symphathising specialists in India will call it as fake encounter.. have we not heard of batla, Bihar ki beti and numerous other cases?.. sicklar gang expects Army has to be 100% righteous and shower its sympathy on terrorists time and again.. IN such a offensive set up, how do you say ends justify the means? that works only for America or west, unfortunately for India, dharma yudh is still in practice.

India's problem is not just with terrosit, but sicklurs who line up to support terrorists

Yes, army is not brave. The brave are here in front of the computer in their comfort zone, busy making fun of the army.. such a shame that they don't realize how they are able to live peacefully here witout the sacrifice of the same army in those office area. Army is not an imported good dear. It is just some of our own men.
