Army kills three militants in Kashmir gunbattle


Srinagar, June 23 (IANS): At least three militants were killed on Thursday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.

A defence source told IANS here that security forces began a search operation after they received specific information about the presence of militants in forests of Lolab. The militants who were hiding there fired upon the forces, triggering a gunbattle.

The official added that the operation was still going on.
