Make yourself, Meena co-accused: AAP tells Jung

New Delhi, June 22 (IANS): The AAP on Wednesday urged Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to direct ACB chief M.K. Meena to make them both (Jung and Meena) co-accused in the FIRs against "wrongdoers" of the previous Delhi government.

In a letter to Jung, AAP legislator Rajendra Pal Gautam said the Arvind Kejriwal government had during its first 49 days in power in 2013-14 filed four FIRs against the "wrongdoers" of Sheila Dikshit government.

"After Kejriwal resigned you took over... sat on all these four cases... absolutely no action was taken in these cases," Gautam said.

"You had been protecting Dikshit... ACB (Anti-Corruption Branch) chief Meena has also colluded with you in this criminal activity," he said.

"Kindly forward my letter to ACB with direction that Meena and yourself should be made co-accused in these four FIRs."

Twelve Aam Aadmi Party MLAs went to Jung's office to meet him over the issue. Jung's secretary took their memorandum and suggested that they meet the ACB chief over the issue, an official at Jung's office told IANS.

The Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Monday registered a case against Chief Minister Kejriwal and former Delhi Chief Minister Dikshit.

ACB chief Meena clarified that the FIR against Kejriwal was registered on the complaint of BJP MLA Vijender Gupta "for causing delay in the probe of water tanker scam and not cancelling the contract for water tankers".

Agitated over not being allowed to meet Jung, AAP MLA Somnath Bharti told the media: "LG did not meet us. He was duty bound to meet us. We were frisked as if we were terrorists."

Jung's office, however, said the Lt Governor had a prior appointment and the MLAs came without notice.

"They simply texted before arriving. LG's schedule is fixed a day before, he has many other important work to do," an official told IANS.
