Diesel price up by Rs 1.26, Petrol by 5 paise

New Delhi, Jun 15 (PTI) : Petrol price was hiked on Wednesday by 5 paise per litre and diesel by Rs 1.26, with immediate effect from midnight.

Petrol will cost Rs 65.65 a litre in Delhi from midnight tonight as compared to Rs 65.60 per litre currently, Indian Oil Corp, the nation’s largest fuel retailer, announced.

Similarly, diesel will cost Rs 55.19 per litre as against Rs 53.93 a litre currently.

This is the fourth increase in auto fuel prices since May 1. Petrol price was last hiked by Rs 2.58 a litre on June 1 and diesel by Rs 2.26 a litre following oil prices crossing USD 50 per barrel mark.

Petrol prices in the four hikes have been raised by Rs 4.52 a litre, while diesel rates have gone up by Rs 7.72 per litre.

“The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and Rupee-US Dollar exchange rate warrant
increase in selling price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision,” IOC said in a statement.

Barring an exemption on April 16, when price of petrol was cut by 74 paise a litre and diesel by Rs 1.30, the upward trend in rates has been a phenomenon since March 17.

Petrol price was increased by Rs 3.07 a litre on March 17 and Rs 2.19 per litre on April 4. In case of diesel, there were four straight hikes prior to that cut. The hikes totaled Rs 4.63 per litre.

After discounting the April 16 reduction, petrol prices have jumped by Rs 9.04 per litre since mid-March and diesel by Rs 11.05 per litre.

The movement of prices in the international oil market and Rupee-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes, IOC added.

Earlier government failed completely to run government owned petroleum companies in loss giving reason crude oil prices are high. People who feel increase of price affect there budget...better use road transports. Who stopped. It's same and convenient. Petrol price is less than tomotos which you are going to buy using vehicles. Already we have increased age limit of doctor to 65 for retirement. Cannot afford much on health sector. As compared to other countries our medical team is much less. Walk for short distance it will also improve health. In earlier days people use to walk daily 20-30 kms. Think positively. Government always think of good people..as even vehicles on road also reduced.

Indians wanted Modi and they got Modi. Modi promised them lower costs of living, jobs, no corruption and dumping all anti-poor policies of congress, that included Aadhar, NREGA, GST etc. Today the only oxygen Modi Govt has is continuing the policies of UPA and rebranding them. Looted money 1.76lakh crore, 1.86lakh crore, 70k crore, are all there safely where it is with Modi Govt., having no clue even after 2 years. So corruption is still there and much more emerged with Vyapam, Modi coal scam and Vasundra - Lalit Modi gate.

People who talked soo lightly about the ex prime minister Manmohan Singh, will still be talking same. Sincere, Hard and honest work pays only after the grave is getting more and more apprerent.

    Acche Din to all.

Under UPA, when the price of crude oil was usd 145 per barrel, in India, it never gone above usd 80 per litre.
