All states except TN agree on GST, says Jaitley

Jun 14 (Agencies) : All states except Tamil Nadu have agreed on the Goods and Services Tax or GST, which aims to bring the country under a unified tax regime, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely said on Tuesday.

Jaitely met finance ministers or their representatives of different states in Kolkata in a conference called to evolve a consensus on the contentious GST Bill, which has been in stalemate for years.

The Kolkata meeting was held at the initiative of Mamata Banerjee, who has thrown her weight, behind GST. The Central Government now hopes to introduce the bill, which has already been passed by the Lok Sabha, in Rajya Sabha, where it is in minority.

BJP Govt wants all credit but for failures it has the habit of blaming others. How much this GST is understood by PM and FM, God alone knows. But the true fact is RSS is opposed to GST. So this lameduck BJP Govt has no guts to oppose the RSS rather it passes the blame to the states. We know this Govt has come only to pass time for 5 years.

Mr. Jaitley,we know that Somalia is not a part of India but is TN also not part of India. If you want to "bring the country under a unified tax regime", don't you think TN also should be there as it is part of India? Are we China where they have One country 2 state policy (for HK) or is it because you can't do anything when AMMA don't like it??

If the MMS was not capable of running the affairs and it required a woman to do the job, so should it be now too - don't you think ?

With the PM anytime going on world tour, the house must surely be run by his female ministers ? Chikki-Queen, Yale- Queen, LaMo-Queen - ????

If at all it is now run by a man, why is the inflation at the level of two years back despite the crude oil is available (cheaper) by at one third of its cost ?

    Bhuvan,

We are talking about Modi - alright. You said Modi writes his own speech. If a tea-seller can write such professional speech (and read it M. R. S. for Mrs. or eleven for Xi) why not a former waitress ? Whereas, MMS never made such foolish errors because he knew what he was reading !

I mentioned Ajit Doval because he is Personal Adviser to the PM. All speeches are dictated by him, Modi only gets a printed paper and reads it - of-course through the projected teleprinters ahead of him. If you counter a question to him, he will say te.. te... te... about your question. I once heard Modi shifting from Million to Billion and again back to Million because he himself did not know what he was trying to say. And the figure was about population of INDIA !

Now is it clear why/how Ajit Doval is also relevant ???
