Shilpa Shetty Lodges Complaint with Cyber Cell

Mumbai, Nov 6: Bollywood actress and Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty has lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell of the city police alleging that a person who got hold of her mobile number had spread it to others resulting in hundreds of unsolicited calls and messages, police said.

"We have no clue how this person got hold of it...Shilpa is being harrowed with hundreds of calls and SMS's from all kinds of people. Some want to date her, some want to just listen to her voice," her publicist Dale Bhagwagar, who filed the complaint on behalf of the actress said Monday November 5.

"We have given the complaint in writing and will register a first information report (FIR) as and when the police tells us to. The person who is spreading the number identifies himself as Jeetu Sethi. The fans who are calling on the number are innocent, we want action against the person spreading the number," Bhagwagar added.

Ever since the actress catapulted to overnight international stardom by winning the Celebrity Big Brother show in the UK earlier this year, Shilpa’s private cell phone number has remained a closely guarded secret. It remained in the safe hands of a total of six to eight of her confidantes, but now her number has been leaked on the internet. And the actress is having a tough time dealing with nonstop phone calls and messages from random fans from all parts of the world.

An extremely infuriated Shilpa is quoted as saying in a news report, “My phone hasn’t stopped buzzing since the last two days. I’ve received hundreds of calls and messages from all kinds of people, from all parts of the world! Some want to date me, some want to just listen to my voice, some want to inquire if my musical is doing well or not, and some are just calling to check if they are speaking to the real Shilpa Shetty or not! I am absolutely sick and fed up of such a drastic invasion of my privacy.”
