Pakistan, Britain discuss ways to expand ties

Islamabad, June 8 (IANS): British Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening discussed with Pakistan's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz over phone the ways to further enhance cooperation between Britain and Pakistan.

Aziz hoped that the current positive and constructive momentum generated after third Pakistan-Britain Enhanced Strategic Dialogue in April 2016 would continue to move forward through a sustained follow-up, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday.

He said Pakistan would welcome British assistance in the reconstruction of areas affected by military operation against terrorists.

Greening appreciated the Pakistani government's steps to improve socio-economic conditions in the country.

She reiterated Britain's commitment to extend further development assistance particularly in the areas of health and education.
