It's raining in Kerala but it's not monsoon yet

Thiruvananthapuram, June 7 (IANS): Kerala received good rains on Tuesday, but the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said one has to wait some more time for the onset of the southwest monsoon.

The IMD said that in view of the strengthening of cross equatorial flow and deepening of westerlies over south Arabian Sea and development of feeble off-shore trough along the Karnataka-Kerala coast, the monsoon was likely to set in by June 9 in Kerala.

The state capital on Tuesday witnessed good rainfall. Similar reports have come in from across the state.

The IMD office here warned fishermen that strong winds, occasionally reaching 45-55 km per hour, along and off the Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep were expected for about two days.
