Shah Rukh Gifts Farah Khan a Mercedes

Mumbai, Nov 3: Happy with her direction in Om Shanti Om, superstar Shah Rukh Khan has gifted Farah Khan a Mercedes car.

Shah Rukh is known for giving out gifts to his friends and colleagues. When his Main Hoon Na released three years back, he had gifted Farah a Hyundai Terracan.

And now, a week before Om Shanti Om hits the theatres, Shah Rukh has done it again and gifted Farah an expensive Mercedes.

The white and beige coloured car is believed to be priced at Rs. 40 lakh.

Reports say that on Thursday November 1 evening, Farah had gone to Yashraj Studios to wish Shah Rukh his birthday in advance. The superstar was shooting an ad there. However, after Farah wished him birthday, SRK, instead of expecting a gift, handed out the keys of a car to Farah.

Farah was thrilled to know it was a Mercedes.

The gift was a token of appreciation of Farah’s work in ‘Om Shanti Om’, which SRK had seen just a few days back and liked a lot.

Farah says the car will be very useful for her as she is expecting three kids soon.

I agree with the views expressed by Mr. Nelson. The gift of a car is only a publicity stunt. Otherwise where was the need to gift a car again to the same person in 3 years. Or is there a hidden motive in avoiding tax/money laundering? If SRK really wanted celebrate his Birthday, he could have looked at a worthy cuase to donate the money.

These filmi guys live in a surreal world and take great fancy in loading expensive gifts to each other and also singing praises either in their names or in the names of their cronies. They have to realise that there are many Indians whose contributions to the country are noteworthy, phenomenal and also generate a lot of wealth to the country and employment to many. Nevertheless, they lead simple, low profile lives.

One Indian industrial tycoon of international repute still uses an Ambassador car, while in India and finances the education of thousands of unfortunate youths. There are again two industrial tycoons who can afford to buy their own aircrafts, whether small or big, but still prefer to travel by airlines in economy class, forget about their charitable deeds.

Another tycoon of international repute can afford to stay in a palatial house, but stays in an apartment in a building which is home of others too. This does not make them any smaller and their achievements speak for themselves. When one is a "have" these gifts do not mean much to them - neither the donor or the receiver, other than the hungama generated by the media. However, if people with wealth and affluence are going to spend their money on people who really need it in the form of education, livelihood, employment, etc., then it would do a world of good.

Why people like Sharukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and the ilk like to make a show of their wealth with media hype, when it is not going to alleviate the sufferings of the poor. There are celebrities who lead a low profile life and also do charity without letting the left hand know what the right hand is doing, forget about their good deeds being covered by the media. However, there are those who suffer from inferiority complex or consider themselves, thanks to the ever fawning media and the public, a highly superior breed or aristocrats and indulge in showmanship.
