Tours suspended after boat capsizes in Chinese city


Beijing, June 5 (IANS): Operations of all tour boats and ships in the city of Guangyuan in China's Sichuan province was suspended for a thorough safety inspection after a leisure boat capsized on Saturday, officials said on Sunday.

A 40-seat leisure boat 'Shuanglong', carrying 18 people, capsized on Bailong lake in to strong gales on Saturday afternoon. One child died and 14 people yet remained missing, Xinhua news agency reported.

There were only three survivors so far in the accident and were admitted to hospital in intensive care.

On Sunday morning, a 320-member rescue team was dispatched to the site.

The capsized boat was found by a civilian group due to a locating device and underwater cameras. However, there were no sign of life.
