Trinamool's Sonali Guha granted bail in threat case

Kolkata, May 4 (IANS): Trinamool Congress candidate and West Bengal assembly Deputy Speaker Sonali Guha, against whom the Election Commission had initiated a police case over a threat, was granted bail by a court on Wednesday.

Contesting from Satgachhia assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas, Guha on April 30 was caught by TV cameras instructing over phone to "beat and drive away the CPI-M agent".

Taking cognizance of the remarks, the Election Commission had lodged a first information report (FIR) against her for disobeying the orders of a public servant, interfering with the electoral process and criminal intimidation.

Guha on Wednesday surrendered before a South 24 Parganas court which granted her bail on a personal bond.
