Telangana again in the grip of heat wave

Hyderabad, May 1 (IANS): After a respite of few days, Telangana is in the grip of heat wave with mercury rising again in many parts of the state on Sunday, said officials.

The met office has issued heat wave warning for all 10 districts in the state over next two days. According to Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, the maximum day temperature is likely to be between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius.

The heat wave conditions will prevail despite the forecast for light to moderate rain or thundershowers over the next two days.

Many places including parts of Hyderabad received rains on Saturday but the day temperatures remained high.

Bhadrachalam in Khammam district was the hottest place in the state on Sunday with maximum temperature of 44.6 degree Celsius. The temperature was above 44 in Khammam, Nalgonda and Ramagundam.

The heat wave conditions have already claimed 143 lives in the state so far this season. The conditions are likely to continue till the onset of monsoon.

The heat wave conditions have aggravated the situation created by second successive drought, triggering scarcity of drinking water in many parts of the state.
