Mangalore, Oct 13: Wildlife week celebration, organized at the Dr Shivaram Karanth Bio-diversity Park in Pilikula was inaugurated by MLA Krishna J Palemar here on Friday, October 12.

Speaking on the occasion, Palimar declared that endangered wildlife should be protected and treated with utmost care and protection. According to him a visit to Pilikula Park will provide solace and peace of mind to the visitors, as it is one of the best bio-diversity parks of the country.

It is the responsibility of each and every individual to protect the endangered wildlife. And if we fail to protect the wildlife, the earth will be in danger, Palimar warned.

Further he rued the fact that the number of cattle, dogs, cats in the rural areas are declining drastically. However, animals have good resistance powers, he said. And in the company of animals one can lead a healthy life, he declared.

Kavitha Dinesh, Mudushedde gram panchayat president stated that Pilikula Park should be developed. But he cautioned that the authorities should ensure that such development activity should not be harmful to the locals.

Also present on the occasion were J ARA Lobo, director, Nisargadhama executive, Harish Kotian, vice-president, Mudushedde gram panchayat. 

Drawing and quiz competitions were also held for the school children as part of the celebration. More than 150 students from various schools participated in the competition. 

A demonstration on drawing was given to children by artist Ganesh Somayaji.
