Bangalore, Oct 13: Former Chief Minister H D Kumarawamy has accused the senior BJP leaders at the Centre of denying CM post to his former Deputy B S Yediyurappa to gain sympathy of lingayats in the next elections.

Accusing senior BJP leaders for hatching a conspiracy against Yediyurappa, Kumaraswamy alleged that neither he nor his father, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, were responsible for the present situation.

"It was the handiwork of the BJP central leaders, who from day one wanted to ensure that Yediyurappa did not become the CM. Now the same leaders are trying to bank on the sympathy factor by declaring a Dharam Yudda (war of righteousness) against me and the JD(S)."

He alleged and added that he too would undertake a State tour to convince the people what led to the fall of JD(S)-BJP government headed by him.

Making public the secret talks between Gowda and BJP observer in the State Yeshwant Sinha at his private house in J P Nagar on September 30, Kumaraswamy alleged that "Sinha instead of discussing power transfer was interested to seek help to make L K Adavani the next Prime Minister. He also wanted JD(S) to join the NDA and contest the polls together. My father, however, flatly rejected the offer saying that he would prefer to keep equi-distance from both the Congress and the BJP and contest the elections on its own."

Kumaraswamy also alleged that neither Sinha nor BJP national president Rajnath Singh replied to the questions of Gowda on the behaviour of key BJP leaders in the coalition government headed by him.

"Instead of replying to the queries, BJP leaders leaked to media that talks between Gowda and Rajanth Singh had failed. This all shows that they never wanted to have a power transfer in the State and make Yediyurappa the CM," he alleged.

Even a statement by H N Ananth Kumar on the controversial Datta Peeta was aimed at preventing any hopes of reviving ties with the BJP, he alleged and added that even the BJP central leaders were against such a revival in the State.
