Mangalore, Oct 11: To review the implementation of the resolutions passed at the first World convention of the Canara Konkani Catholic Community, a get-together of all the hands that made the convention a grand success will be arranged on Saturday October 13, at Milagres Senate Hall, in the city, informed John D'Silva president, Fuddar Prathisthan at press club here on Thursday October 11.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore will be the chief guest for the function, Albert W D'Souza from Mumbai will deliver the keynote address, Felix Lobo from Qatar, Lancy D'Cunha, president, Catholic Sabha and George Fernandes, president of Karwar Catholic Association are the other speakers, he informed.

The delegates at the get-together function will discuss the resolutions passed at the World Convention referred above in order to strengthen the management committee of Fuddar Pratisthan to execute the task, which has been given to them, of implementing the resolutions. About 200 delegates from all over India and abroad are expected to attend the same, he explained.  

It has been a popular myth that the Christian community has no poor and BPL families, but it is fact that many families still need others' help. The Catholic Sabha has realized that the youth of the community are not in the position of living better owing to lack of guidance etc.  All these issues will be brought to discussion, he added.

Speaking about the objectives, the president said, creating awareness among students of the community about advantages of civil defense services, particularly competitive examinations like IAS, KAS and other examinations, promoting self-employment, entrepreneurship, focusing upon the measures in order to eradicate poverty, illiteracy among the people and to secure employment to at least one member of every family. 

Fr Walter D'Mello, vice-president, L J Fernandes, secretary, Lancy D'Cunha, member were present at the press conference.
