Puttur, Oct 10: The Puttur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has stated that it would stage block good trains running between Bangalore – Mangalore in protest against the delay in beginning passenger services on the same rail route passing through town from Thursday November 22, stated U Lokesh Hegde, president, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and A Khader Haji, secretary, at the press conference.

South Western Railway (SWR) officers had assured of beginning the passenger services in January 2006.  At the same time, minister R Velu, offerred assurances of beginning passenger services ahead of Mahamastakabhishek (anointing of monolithic Bahubali) during May 2006.  Moreover the recent statement of union railway minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, on the same issue has surprised everyone.  He seems to have told that chief commissioner of Railway Safety has given green signal to resume passenger services Mangalore – Bangalore rail route but he has denied setting any deadline to resume the service.

Now the office-bearers of Puttur Chamber of Commerce and Industry have threatened to block all good trains running between Bangalore – Mangalore, if SWR officials fail to resume passenger services by Thursday November 22.  

K Keshav Pai, T V Ravindran, Srikanth Kolattaya, Padmanabha Shetty were also present at the press conference.
