Udupi, Oct 7: Two miscreants who snatched a cellphone from a medical student from Manipal were arrested by Kaup police on Friday night.

Kusha Kumar Singh, a medical student from Manipal, had come for a stroll on Kaup beach two days earlier. Two youngsters reportedly accosted him, splashed sand into his eyes and ran away with his cellphone. Singh had complained to the Manipal police station. On Friday, the case was transferred to the Kaup police station.

Sub inspector C H Ravi of the district crime investigation bureau and his staff swung into action and arrested Ramnagar Padu resident Prithviraj (18) and Paul Monteiro (22) of Bantwal.

The duo has been produced in court and remanded to judicial custody thereafter. The police are on the lookout for the remaining two miscreants.
