Mangalore, Oct 2: Both the sides of the main road from Dakshina Kannada Zilla Parishad Higher Primary School to Corp Bank’s corporate office in Pandeshwar here were cleaned up by the students along with senior officials on Monday October 1 as part Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations.

The programme of cleaning was organized by Corporation Bank to mark Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations with an objective to make the students aware of the importance of simplicity, social concern, cleanliness and ‘Swadeshi’ spirit among the students.

B R Bhat, general manger of the Bank inaugurated the programme.

Speaking on the occasion he urged the students to celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi in a meaningful way. He also spoke about the importance of cleanliness and sacrifice in the life of every human being.

Speaking to students, he said that if everyone follows these simple principles in their life, then it will easy to transform the city into a clean city.

He further urged the students to follow the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi which is most relevant in present environment.
