Udupi Oct 1: A legal awareness camp on “Women and co-operative principles” was organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Udupi Bar Association and the Badagabettu Pattin Sahakara Sangha, here on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007.
Speaking at the camp Karnataka High Court judge HVG Ramesh declared that Stree Shakti Women’s self-help groups (SHGs) have played a stellar role in making women economically independent.
Moreover, he advised that the SHGs could also take up socially-relevant causes such as prevention of atrocities on women and awareness campaigns on dowry harassment.
