Bantwal, Oct 1: The Melkar town which witnessed violence during the victory celebration on Sunday September 30 is now returning to normalcy, informed sources here on Monday October 1.

Melkar had turned violent after few miscreants pelted stones at the Congress activists when they were taking victory procession. Prohibitory orders were clamped in the locality till 6 am on Monday October 1. A certain Ashraf, who was stabbed by some miscreants, is recovering in a hospital in Mangalore.

At the same time the police have taken one Ravi Bhandary to custody. Security has been beefed up in and around Melkar, specially in Goodinabali, Kalladka, Farangipet and Shantiangadi.
