Mangalore, Oct 1: 'Space Week' will be celebrated in different colleges of Mangalore University by the association of Physics Teachers in association with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) here, from Monday October 1.

Narayan Bhat, secretary of the association and Ramesh Bhat, coordinator of the Space week programme, in a joint press release stated that the first artificial satellite Sputnik I, was launched on October 4, 1957, making it the 50th anniversary of the event this year.

Display of satellite models and charts, video shows and guest lectures by ISRO scientists will be part of the week-long programme.
