Udupi, Sep 26: Twentyfour hour water supply has been implemented in Udupi City Municipal Corporation area, District In-charge Minister V S Acharya has said.

He said that a comprehensive programme had been chalked to supply drinking water throughout the state during the next five years.

He was speaking at the Pandith Deendayal Upadhyaya Commemoration programme organised by the District BJP here on Tuesday.

He added that the Congress had done nothing for the state and claiming that they have done a lot.

He said former chief minister Veerappa Moily, former central minister Janardana Poojary and Union Minister Oscar Ferndes had failed to influence Central leaders to upgrade National Highway-17.

The Minister said that there was no improvement in business and commerce activities in the district due to poor condition of the NH-17.

MLA K Raghupathi Bhat who spoke on occasion found fault with the Congress leaders for such condition. He said those leaders had done little precious for the improvement of the area.

Member of Parliament Manorama Madhwaraj urged the people to vote for the BJP in the urban local body elections to better the condition of people.

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Menodn, BJP District president Kota Srinivas Poojary, Mahesh Thakur, Shymala Kunder, Devendra Prabhu and others were present.

Dinakar Shetty welcomed the gathering, Suvardan Nayak proposed a vote of thanks. Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde was also spoke on the occasion.
