Udupi, Sep 23: According to police reports three teenaged girls committed suicide by jumping into a well at Balaipade near here, on Saturday Sept 22.
One of the girls was identified by the police as Jayamma aged 18 years, who originally belonged to a place called Chitradurga, but had later been living in a hut near Balaipade.
She is alleged to have jumped into the well yesterday.
First the body of Jayamma was fished out of the well. Later the police received another call stating that the bodies of two more girls were found floating in the same well.
The latter two deceased girls have been identified as Pramila and Lakshmi, both aged sixteen years. The motive behind this drastic step by the teenagers is being investigated by the police, who have registered a case in this regard.
