Udupi, Sep 23: Owing to the local body elections, the district administration here has declared a public holiday on September 28, in the areas where the elections are to be held.
Holiday is declared for government industrial institutes, Town Municipalities, Town Panchayat, Zilla Panchayats, Corporations and Boards, all educational institutions including aided schools, nationalized banks and other banks, LIC under Negotiable Instruments Act.
This holiday is however, not applicable for emergency services. All the government employees deputed for election duty should carry out their duties, informed V Ponnuraj, district commissioner of Udupi.
