Mangalore, Sep 22: The products manufactured in Dakshina Kannada Krushi Abirvuddi Sahakari Sangha (South Canara Agriculture Development Cooperative Society) is known for its quality, Pellapparu Venkatramana Bhat president told media persons here on Friday September 21.   

The Sangha was started in 1962 by T A Pai with the intention to fulfill the needs of the farmers, keeping their requirements in the consideration, today that Sangha has proved only of its kind, he informed. 

Briefing the intentions of the Sangha, Bhat said supplying instruments related to agricultural at reasonable rates is one of their main aims. Supply of spare parts and availing the experts during repairing works, setting up agricultural based industrial units, training rural youth in repairing works of agricultural machineries, giving suggestions and providing help to farmers for free of cost, has been carried out efficiently over the years.

Mentioning about the share capital and fund, he gave the statistics that the net amount of the share capital collected from members is Rs 10, 52, 330 and deposits of members are Rs 47,29,600 and fund is Rs 38, 29, 678 and building fund is Rs 38, 04,728 and other funds are 1,35,57,264. 

Summing up the whole transaction by the Sangha, the president announced that 352 tilling machines, 542 irrigation pump sets, 1496 sprayers, sparing parts cost around Rs 3.60 crores and Rs 8.62 crore on spare parts. Products manufactured costing around 31.84 lakhs in the workshops and free service has been rendered on 651 occasions.
